Blueberry Path Ristorante
Howell, NJ
Last visited on 2-07
----- All you can eat family style Italian restaurant.
Hidden away in Howell Township, this small family owned business has some really outstanding specialties.
The ambiance of the freshly renovated room was delightful.
Food is cooked only for 6 to 10 people at a time so it's fresh, not that frozen stuff.
Our waiter (Vincent) brought the food out quickly, and was very attentive, except he never asked us if we wanted refills for our drinks.
We met some really nice people sitting at the table next to us, and had a nice conversation with Angela, Joann, Lisa, Dan and Sherry.
For starters they brought out large portions of five different breads.
Their Chicken Franchaise was unbelievable and was prepared by master chefs Karen and Phyllis.
We were told that they have a cook that does nothing but make the gravy for the macaroni, eggplant, and meats etc.  Alyssa won't let anybody watch her as she prepares her own secret recipe for her award winning unbelievable tasty gravies.
They have an extensive choice of special Italian deserts and an extremely large selection of specially brewed coffee.  Each cup is brewed separately, one cup at a time, at the time of your order. You won't get coffee as fresh as this anywhere else.
The food is very reasonably priced, cooked just right, and extremely tasty.
They offer live entertainment every weekend.  We especially loved the Connie and Jimmy show.  It's a riot, with new material with each show.
We had a window seat near the rear of the building overlooking the spacious deck, beautiful shrubbery and meticulously manicured lawn. We can't wait to come back in the summer to eat outside in this lovely park like setting.
Reservations are highly recommended, as seating is limited.
Tell them that Dennis sent you, and you will get the reserved table next to Connie and Jimmy.
We have eaten here quite a few times, and can assure you that you will never be disappointed.

Carrabba's - Italian Grill
990 Cedar Bridge Ave.
Brick, NJ 08723
Last visited on 07-11
----- As usual with Carrabba's restaurants', the food, presentation, and service are exceptional.
The service is exceedingly better than almost all restaurants we have been to. (As you can see from this list, we visited a lot of them.

The part that most impressed us, is the ability of the server to not interrupt us when we are talking, explain the specials in great detail, slowly, clearly, and understandable.  It's the attention to detail that makes the dining experience most enjoyable.  Getting the order correct, serving each order to the right person without asking, refilling our drinks before they are empty.

I asked for a ginger ale, easy on the ice, and each additional refill came exactly that way.  Every other restaurant always brings the refills with 80% ice regardless how you asked for the first one, and a lot of the times the first one is 80% ice also.

Jen was our delightful waitress, and you guessed it, see did everything perfectly.

Don't forget the numerous choices of deserts including the delightful shot glass ones. Because of their small sizes, you can have 4 or 5 different deserts and have less calories than one big dessert. Lol.

David A. Crone the proprietor, asked us if everything was OK while we were eating, and asked if everything was OK when we were leaving.

We would like to congratulate David, Jen, and the staff, for another great dining experience.

----- I very rarely critique any restaurant in this much detail, but this one has done everything so perfectly, it justified the extra time and detail.
After going to the convention center and/or gambling, and you want to eat at an inexpensive restaurant and have an absolutely great meal, then this the place to go.

Julie is a dream waitress, she catered to our every whim (we had quite a few), she got every order and request done perfectly.
She also refilled out drinks without asking or waiting till they were empty.

We asked another helping waitress an unusual question, she said she would ask for us.  Within a couple of minutes, the "Proprietario" Brian Krueger came to our table and said he had a surprise for me.  After he presented me with the surprise, I immediately said I have a surprise for you; a review on my website so other people could experience the great time, outstanding food and service, while in a quiet and great atmosphere, also a meticulously clean establishment.
Julie told us that Brian was a great person and continually went out of his way to make sure that customers have and exceptional experience at his restaurant.

The bathrooms were a delightful surprise, they were so clean the you could eat off the floor.  How many restaurants have you been to that even remotely resemble being clean???
The hand soap and the towels were the same quality and presented the same as a high class restaurant.

The bread came out piping hot, unlike many other restaurants that serve it warm to cold.  The bread was served with butter and a plate of olive oil mixed with other spices not just black pepper.
The food presentation and taste was way above the average restaurant...
The grated cheese was exceptional, not the cheaper "no taste" cheeses, and the serving size was very generous.

The room was surprising quiet even though there were lots of small children.

There were numerous choices of deserts including the delightful shot glass ones. Because of their small sizes, you can have 4 or 5 different deserts and have less calories than one big dessert. Lol.

The six of us wish to thank everyone at Carrabba's for a very wonderful and delightful experience.

----- We went for desert at night and we were not impressed, as the deserts that should have been hot were just above room temperature. We also had the worst waiter possible, as he decided to substitute items in our order without asking us, because they ran out of whatever we asked for.  Their ice cream Sunday consisted of vanilla ice cream (only flavor available) with whip cream only, no toppings or syrup.

Country Pancake House and Restaurant

The food is good, but the service is mediocre.  The soups are barely warm 95% of the time and closer to room temperature.   The quiche is always room temperature.  The wait to get your order is always unbelievably slow, and that's when they are not even busy.

----- The original Larison's Turkey Farm was one of our favorite visits right after thanksgiving when the stores start displaying their Christmas wares.  On our recent visit we noticed the lack of Christmas decorations in the lobby and in the dinning rooms.  The wooden Indians and famous second floor with the bears and other animals were regrettably absent, as was the cozy, charming and unique little Christmas store behind the restaurant.  We also miss seeing the animals that were roaming around in the back of their property.  The food was good and service was great.  The old historic part of Chester seems to be turning into regular everyday stores and has lost its charming appeal.

----- Their apple pancake and The Dutch Baby are two of the most colossal dishes that I have ever seen.  The chicken crepe (my favorite) was also awesome, it's to bad they decided to remove it from the menu. We were told that they only serve that particular dish during the week and not on the weekends. While I am still trying to figure what kind of sense that makes, it will cost them some customers, including the large group I usually go with.

The part that most impressed us, is the ability of our server not to interrupt us when we are talking, explain the specials in great detail, slowly, clearly, and understandable.  It's the attention to the details that makes the dining experience most enjoyable, like getting the order correct, serving each order to the right person without asking, and refilling our drinks before they are empty.

This was the third time we visited this outback with a large group (11 people) and had Stephanie for our waitress.

Lauren our server, was extremely polite, attentive, asking if she could get us anything else, asking if we wanted our drinks refilled, and was apologetic for the meals.  Although this was her second day working here, she provided us the best possible service, a lot better than most seasoned servers.

----- This was a good place to eat.  Since they closed the McDonalds next door, it appears that they hired the people from there to make a feeble attempt at cooking, instead of throwing a frozen item on a pre timed conveyor belt. It seems that they still think they are cooking hamburgers, without regard for details like, is the dough even close to being cooked on the pizza, or that pizza comes with more than just tomato sauce.  After explaining to the server that Caesar salad has Caesar salad dressing in it, not 5 drops of what appeared to be oil of some kind, and Caesar salad come with lots of graded cheese, not 10 strands, he proceeded to tell me that it was on the bottom, Duh. I guess he never saw Caesar salad before, as the dressing is tossed with the salad, not 5 drops of oil on the bottom of plain salad.  Now that I think of it, I guess I expected to much from him, I don't think that McDonalds served Caser salad, which would explain why he was unaware of what a Caesar salad has in it or what it should look like.

With the recent openings of other food chains in the same west belt plaza, it seems that for some reason they want to maintain the same quality and status of the old McDonalds.

----- We asked for a medium to well hamburger and it came out raw, lemon with water and no lemon, Gyro came without the sauce, the food was freezing cold before we could eat half of it, do the weird placement of the air conditioning ducts.  They were blowing right on us to the point we couldn't stand it any more and had to get up and leave.

----- We had an absolutely fantastic party here, the room was elegant and tables was set beautifully, the food was perfect, the servers were very alert and responsive.  Our only one complaint is that when we asked where the left over food was, the server told me that we didn't ask for it, so they threw it away.  I guess the server has never been to any other parties, where it is customary to package, or at least ask if the customer wants the leftovers.  Duh !!!
